It is to the utter flutter of my heart, that last Thursday night, Helen Zille publicly backed social entrepreneurship in the Western Cape at our Heart Social Investment (www.heartglobal.org) launch. Helen’s call for an audit into the R180 odd million spent each year is also a very interesting move – my guess is, many heads will roll when the results of that audit are released.
Below is a video insert of the event, but to really get insight into Helen’s understanding of the space, please click here to listen to her full speech. Also, click here to listen to Peter Shrimpton’s (my colleague / partner) full speech.

Finally! It is imperative that government start realizing there are better ways to get through the societal and environmental challenges than just handing out cash with little or no measurability.
One can also expect that Helen is at the forefront of ensuring her provincial cabinet is making sustainable systematic change, rather than sustaining symptoms.
Bravo!
